Literary and International Recognition
Writer, journalist, and human rights activist Stella Gaitano has been selected as Writer of Courage. This announcement was made by Leila Aboulela, the winner of the PEN Pinter Prize 2025.
Both writers spent their childhood in Khartoum and have written extensively about Sudan, identity, migration, and displacement.
The PEN Pinter Prize was established in 2009 in memory of Nobel Prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter.
Architecture and Science Awards
- Chinese architect Liu Jiakun won the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2025.
- Japanese mathematician Masaki Kashiwara received the Abel Prize 2025.
- Brazilian microbiologist Mariangela Hungria received the World Food Prize 2025.
